EUTHANASIA SERVICES

Dr. Clarke will provide a compassionate euthanasia in a quiet and peaceful setting for your pet. As a pet owner herself, each euthanasia is performed a humane manner without exception.

When is it time?

  • Your pet has a severe disease that can not be treated any longer

  • Your pet is in pain or is suffering and medication no longer helps

  • Your pet has lost the "will" to continue and has become depressed

  • When your pet's quality of life has deteriorated

What to expect?

When you arrive at the clinic, you will get the opportunity to ask the doctor any questions you may still have pertaining to your pet's condition.  A sedative will be administered in the muscle to help your pet relax with you in the room.  Once your pet is resting comfortably, the doctor will come into the room and place a small catheter in the vein.  A second final drug will be given in the vein.

You are encouraged to take the time you need both before, and after the procedure.

Should I bring my other pet?

If your sick pet has a buddy from home, we believe that pet should also be given the chance to be present.  They are family too, so we welcome them to join us.

Some pets will require time to grieve as people do.  This is normal and may last a week to several months.

Home euthanasia is an option

We realize that some people have specific needs whereby a home euthanasia would be better for their pet, especially if they are scared coming to the hospital, or are not able to walk. In these situations, call our office as we will do our best to come to your home between 1-3pm.

NOTE: Please understand that these are by appointment only so please call to see if we can help assist you in the comforts of your home.

If you are in need of care when our office is closed (after hours and on weekends) please call Dr. Benson at  619-977-6698 with "Paws Into Grace" or click: www.pawsintograce.com

After-care

Though it is difficult to discuss with loved ones, be sure to think about the type of after-care you would like for your pet.  You can choose to have your pet's ashes returned to you.

At our clinic, we use Family Animal Pet Services after meeting Dan, the owner.  Dan started his business as a result of his own pet experience so every detail has a personal touch. We see the amazing care in detail he gives to every pet and it is more than clear that he shares our passion for animals.  We encourage you to call for yourself, or visit Dan at his website www.myfamilyanimals.com.
